After last year’s scorching heat, this year’s eXtremeMan Nagyatád triathlon took place on August 9th in slightly milder conditions, where the Grepton team (6 members) achieved an outstanding result: in the men’s relay teams of four or more category, based on finishing time (10h:33m:33s), they came in a fantastic 4th place.

The classic Ironman distance — which we also competed in — covers a total of 226 km: of this, 3.8 km is swimming, 180 km is cycling, and a marathon 42.2 km is running.

The relay format is also a serious challenge, but diligent preparation and precise scheduling of the legs paid off. Despite the heat, the pace stayed steady, we delivered strong individual performances, and we even managed to shave time off transitions — altogether this is what brought the good placing. After more than ten and a half hours, we happily crossed the finish line together.

Our split results:

  • Swimming: 1:22:05
  • Cycling: 5:31:38
  • Running: 3:35:22
  • Placing within the category: 4th (men’s relay teams of four or more category, 13 starters)
  • Fun fact-1: if, like last year, we had entered in the Just for Fun category this year too, based on finishing time we would have placed 2nd out of the 35 starting teams.
  • Fun fact-2: in the regular relay competition, based on weighted time, we finished in 12th place out of 40 starting teams.
Official Results

Team members (relay composition):

  • Róbert Fülöp (15.75 km running)
  • Bence Rigó (1.27 km swimming, 32 km cycling, 5.25 km running)
  • Zoltán Rigó (32 km cycling, 5.25 km running)
  • Tibor Szeredi (10.5 km running)
  • Péter Vas (84 km cycling)
  • Attila Weisz (2.54 km swimming, 32 km cycling, 5.25 km running)

Special thanks and congratulations to two of our colleagues, Krisztián Farkas and Csongor Szilágyi, who competed not under Grepton’s colors but with family teams (Krisztián’s team of 4, Csongor’s team of 3), yet supported and encouraged the Grepton team both during preparation and throughout the race. Not to mention that both family teams also completed the full distance with outstandingly good results.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, cheered us on, or simply shared in our joy!
